Looking to get in shape? There’s an app for that! In fact, there are probably about a million of them. With so many options, it can be tough to know which ones are worth your time (and money).
That’s where I come in. I’ve scoured the app store and tested countless fitness apps to bring you the 10 must-have ones for tracking your progress. Whether you’re a gym rat or a couch potato, these apps will help you reach your fitness goals (or at least make you feel like you’re making progress).
MyFitnessPal – This app has been around for ages, and for good reason. It’s the king of calorie tracking, with a database of over 11 million foods. It also syncs with a variety of fitness trackers, so you can see how many calories you’re burning throughout the day. Plus, it’s free!

Strong – If you’re into lifting weights, Strong is the app for you. It lets you track your workouts, sets, reps, and weights, and even has a rest timer so you can make sure you’re taking the right amount of time between sets. It’s not free, but it’s definitely worth the investment.
Zombies, Run! – Who says exercise has to be boring? Zombies, Run! turns your workout into a thrilling adventure, as you’re chased by zombies through an apocalyptic wasteland. It’s like a game and a workout all in one.
Nike Training Club – This app is like having a personal trainer in your pocket. It has over 185 workouts designed by Nike trainers, and even lets you create your own custom workout plans. It’s free, but some of the premium workouts require a subscription.
Strava – If you’re a runner or cyclist, you probably already know about Strava. It’s the go-to app for tracking your runs and rides, and lets you compete against other users for the best times on popular routes.
Aaptiv – Aaptiv is like having a personal trainer who talks you through your workout. It has audio-based workouts for everything from running to yoga, and even has guided meditations for post-workout relaxation. It’s not free, but it’s definitely worth the cost.
Fitbod – Fitbod is a weightlifting app that uses machine learning to create personalized workout plans based on your goals, fitness level, and available equipment. It’s like having a personal trainer who knows you better than you know yourself.

JEFIT – JEFIT is another weightlifting app that lets you track your workouts and progress. It also has a huge library of exercises with detailed instructions and animations to make sure you’re doing them correctly.
Yoga Studio – If you’re into yoga, this app is a must-have. It has over 70 ready-made yoga and meditation classes, as well as the ability to create your own custom classes. It’s not free, but it’s definitely worth the investment.
